School and Group Tours
The museum is open April through October for group visitation. Please contact us to make these reservations. Visits cost $3 per person. A special discount rate applies to Harford County Public Schools, please call for more details.
Group tours require at least 10 people. If your group is smaller than 10, please visit during our normal operating hours.
The museum offers two tours. Either one or both tours can be planned per visit. Each tour takes about 45 minutes, but we can work with any time restraints.
The Lock House Tour
The Lock House Tour consists of a seven minute DVD presentation that shows how the canal works and a short history of the Susquehanna and Tidewater Canal and the Lock House, including a guided tour of both the upstairs and the downstairs of the house. The tour concludes outside with a demonstration of the pivot bridge and a closer view of the restored canal area.
The North Park Trail Tour
The North Park Trail is an easy one mile walk on flat ground. On the trail you will observe tidal and non-tidal wetlands, see the abrupt transition from the Coastal Plain to the Piedmont Plateau, and more.
