April 18 – “Researching and Writing about the War of 1812” presented by Mike Dixon and Heidi Glatfelter – 7 p.m. at HdG City Hall, 711 Pennington Ave
In the April 18th lecture, Mike Dixon first spoke about the new methods for conducting research. No longer does a researcher necessarily need to make academic appoints and sift through old scholarly journals. Nowadays, from maps to newspapers to personal letters, almost anything can be found on the internet. Heidi Glatfelter then segued by explaining how she used this myriad of resources to write her book, Havre de Grace in the War of 1812: Fire on the Chesapeake, particularly searching for how Havre de Grace recovered from the 1813 attack.
