JANUARY

11th.   21st Annual Frostbite Walk along the Joe K Trail!  North Park Trail Walk at 10 am.  A 1.5 easy trail walk where history meets ecology. Meet at the top of the Museum drive.  Free and no reservation required.  Dress accordingly. The trail can be muddy, cold and/or windy along the river.

FEBRUARY

Museum available for SCHEDULED, OFF SEASON tours Monday thru Friday.  By appointment only.  $5/person.  No groups larger than 6 adults.  Contact museum office.  410-939-5780 or info@thelockhousemuseum.org.

29th.  'Early Spring Walk' Bird Walk.  8 am.  This is a Havre de Grace Green Team 'Bird City' sponsored event.

Join us for this early spring walk. We will hope to see some of the resident species like Carolina wren, song sparrow, Downy and Pileated woodpecker, as well as winter visitors to the park. This may include Hermit Thrush, Yellow-bellied sapsucker and the ever-elusive Winter wren. Of course, we will also keep an eye on the river for ducks and other waterbirds.

Please dress for the weather, the possibilities of mud and please bring your own binoculars. Meet at the picnic table at the end of the Lock House driveway.  No registration required.

APRIL

5th.  Museum opens on the weekends for the season.  1-5 pm.  Initial guided tour then at your own pace.  $5 per person suggested admission.  Regular hours begin after this opening date; Friday-Sunday 1-5 pm until the end of October.

20th.  Museum Closed/EASTER.

MAY

Saturdays in May (except May 10th)... Drop-in Yoga at the Lock House with Beach Bee Yoga.  10 am.  $10 fee, no registration required.

8th.  'Celebrate the Spring Migration' Bird Walk.  8-9:30 am. This is a Havre de Grace Green Team 'Bird City' sponsored event.

World Migratory Bird Day is May 11, so we will get a jumpstart on the season with this bird walk. Join us to see some our returning summer residents like Chimney swift, Ruby-throated hummingbird, and Acadian flycatcher. Our goal will be to catch some of the flashy spring migrating warblers.  Over 10 different species of warblers have been reported in the Park.

There will be NO parking available near the Lock House Museum due to the Beer & Wine Festival - see below.  Free and no reservation required.  Dress accordingly; the trail can be muddy, cold and/or windy along the river.

10th.  7th Annual Lock House Craft Beer & Wine Festival featuring area beers and wines, live music and curated craft vendors overlooking the beautiful Susquehanna River. The Museum is closed to the public that day.

11th. Museum Closed/MOTHER'S DAY.

JUNE

24th. Mid-Summer Bird Walk.  5-6:30 pm. This is a Havre de Grace Green Team 'Bird City' sponsored event.

Join us for a walk along Joe K Trail to see some of our resident breeding birds. This time of year the birds are mostly wrapping up their parenting activities and

starting to prepare for migration or bulking up for winter. Cardinal, Blue-gray gnatcher, Great-blue herons and several species of seagull may be seen.

AUGUST

27th.  'Celebrate the Autumn Migration' Bird Walk.  8-9:30 am. This is a Havre de Grace Green Team 'Bird City' sponsored event.

The Autumn World Migratory Bird Day is October 11th, but the peak migration period in Havre de Grace is in late September.  Join us for a bird walk to see the fall migrants heading south. It is a challenging time of year to identify warblers because they are no longer decked out in the spring breeding plumage, but it offers a good chance to see a variety of other species.

OCTOBER

25th.  Museum closes for the season.

NOVEMBER

Join us to see the winter residents of the park. White-throated sparrow, dark-eyed junco and possibly Brown creeper may be 

seen this time of year. Others to mention are the year-round residents like Northern Cardinal, Carolina chickadee, Bald eagle and Red-shouldered hawk.
